TRANSFER OF ACUTE HOSPITAL SITE TO TRUST
How it started
The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust required Estate Strategy options to reduce overall revenue spend, while giving flexibility options to ease space pressure
from other parts of their estate.
What we did
Our role was to support the Trust to find innovative ways to deliver their Growth Strategy.
We informed on strategy options and formulated a business case to enable the Trust to transfer the Ellesmere Port Hospital totalling 4,447 sqm (51,371 sq ft) from the ownership of NHS Property Services. We oversaw technical due diligence, developed a 10-year financial assessment, advised at all points of internal governance and undertook risk management arrangements.
How it ended
Key outcomes from the transfer include:
-
Boosts the Trusts financial position
-
Upgrades clinical pathways and services locally,
-
Builds flexibility and capacity to support the wide range of population health needs
-
Relieves pressure on acute hospital space through utilisation options,
-
Improves step-up/down provision and integrated care pathways to address the demand of the local community,
-
Gained approvals from all key stakeholders, including Trust Board, ICS/B, DHSC, and Health Ministers.
